Laura Stein is responsible for Clorox’s global legal, compliance, corporate responsibility, community affairs, government affairs, enterprise risk management, internal audit, crisis management/business continuity planning and communications matters. She serves on Clorox’s executive committee, is president of The Clorox Company Foundation and has sponsored Clorox’s women’s employee resource group (Support, Heart and Opportunity for Women). She was previously senior vice president – general counsel of H. J. Heinz Company, president of Heinz’s women’s leadership group, and a Heinz Foundation director. Ms. Stein is a director of Franklin Resources, Inc., a global investment management firm known as Franklin Templeton Investments, and Canadian National Railway (CN), a leading North American transportation company. Ms. Stein serves on the Board of Managerial Trustees of the International Association of Women Judges, the American Law Institute Council and the Harvard Law School Visiting Committee. She also has served in leadership positions with nonprofits focused on rule of law, diversity and pro bono, including serving as the former chair of the ABA Commission on Domestic Violence, the former chair of the ABA Asia Rule of Law Initiative, former board member of the ABA Rule of Law Initiative, co-chair of Corporate Pro Bono and immediate past chair of Equal Justice Works. She received her J.D. from Harvard Law School, and her BA and MA degrees from Dartmouth College. Ms. Stein has received the Margaret Brent Award, the ABA’s highest award for women lawyers, the Sandra Day O’Connor Board Excellence award, and the Ted Craig Humanitarian Award, among others. She speaks six languages and has lived in China and Europe.​
