The Honorable Mary McGowan Davis is a retired Acting New York State Supreme Court Justice and former Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York. Judge Davis is currently active with several organizations that focus on human rights and transnational justice. In recent years, her travels have taken her to Mongolia, where she worked with judges and prosecutors on an anti-human trafficking initiative sponsored by the Asia Foundation, and to Afghanistan, where she mentored criminal defense lawyers in a program organized by the International Legal Foundation, Inc. She has participated in workshops for judges and lawyers in Iraq, Rwanda and Tunisia and she has been a consultant to the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda and the International Criminal Court. In 2015 she was named Chair of the United Nation’s Human Rights Council’s Commission on Inquiry (COI) to probe into the 2014 Gaza Conflict.
