Call for Papers: Edited Volume on Young Arab Women Beyond Boundaries and Borders
The Institute for Women’s Studies in the Arab World at the Lebanese American University issued a call for papers focused on feminist movements for gender equality and women’s rights across the Middle East. The call is targeting young Arab women as the main contributors. Submissions will be accepted in English and Arabic. The volume is set to be published by McFarland in late May 2018.
Possible topics include, but are not limited to:
- Reflections: Women and resistance in the wake of the Arab Spring;
- Revolution in retreat: Gendered spaces;
- Gendered oppositions: Sexual violence and the dynamics of resistance;
- Sustainable change: Framing gender rights through legal reform; and
- Gender and youth

The deadline for expression of interest is 10 December 2017. Applicants will hear back by 20 December 2017. The deadline for the first draft submission is 15 February 2018 and final draft submission is 15 May 2018.
