IAWJ Commemorates the International Day of Peace

The UN General Assembly has declared September 21 as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, among all nations and peoples. The IAWJ, in its commitment to promoting human rights and equal justice for all, commemorates the United Nations-sanctioned International Day of Peace. It is through equal access to justice that we can facilitate global peace and access to human rights. The courts have a key role in promoting peace by ensuring accountability. According to the UN “a peaceful society is one where there is justice and equality for everyone,” making IAWJ’s work crucial in promoting peace.

This year’s World Peace Day is particularly relevant, as it celebrates the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, a milestone in the history of the protection and promotion of human rights worldwide.
