IAWJ Regional Reports: Europe, Middle East and North Africa
IAWJ Regional Directors, Hon. Gloria Poyatos and Hon. Saida Chebili presented two regional reports for the Europe, Middle East and North Africa Region to the IAWJ Board of Directors.
In the reports, they announced new women judges associations forming in the region that may affiliate with the IAWJ: Yemen, Iraq, Portugal and the Czech Republic.
Moreover, they highlighted the details of the coming IAWJ Europe, Middle East, and North Africa Regional Conference to take place on April 25-26 in Madrid at the Museum of the National Coin and Stamp Factory. The theme of the Conference is “Justice with a Gender Perspective.” In the report, they explain that they expect over 400 participants from over 30 countries. The judges also provided details about the educational and cultural activities of the conference.
Finally, in the report, the judges addressed the training activities performed by the Tunisian Association of Women Judges (TAWJ) to increase the institutional capacity of the association, educate judges on mediation as an alternative conflict resolution tool, among others.
