IAWJ at the Summit of Women Judges and Prosecutors on Human Trafficking and Organized Crime
The Pontifical Academy of Sciences will host the Summit of Women Judges and Prosecutors on Human Trafficking and Organized Crime on 09-10 November 2017 at Casino Pio IV in Vatican City. A number of IAWJ judges, including IAWJ President Dr. Susana Medina, will be participating in the program.
The two day program is set to address the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal, Goal 8.7, which states: “Take immediate and effective measures to eradicate forced labour, end modern slavery and human trafficking and secure the prohibition and elimination of the worst forms of child labour, including recuitment and use of child soldiers, and by 2025 end child labour in all its forms.” This goal was universally adopted by the 193 countries of the United Nations. Those participating in the summit will collaborate the estimate the extent of the phenomenon of human trafficking and modern day slavery.
