As part of the project to introduce alternative solutions for conflict resolution in Tunisia which the Hon. Saida Chebili, Honorary President of the Tunisian Association of Women Judges and Regional Director of the IAWJ, led for two years with the help of the European Union PARJ, she organized an awareness day for judges and lawyers in the Sousse Court of Appeal.

The interventions of different lawyers, judges and mediators were focused on:

  • the value of enacting mediation laws
  • the role of the lawyer in mediation
  • civil and commercial mediation
  • mediation and other alternative dispute resolution
  • mediation and comparative law
  • the mediation process

This was done to push the unique experience on the field in the High Court of Sousse and was led by the Hon. Saida Chebili to start the practice of mediation even before the extension of the laws on mediation in Tunisia.
