Women Judges in Guatemala Account for 40% of All Judges

According to Magistrate Delia Davila, IAWJ member and President of the Association of Women Judges of Guatemala (AMJG), as of 2017, out of the 1,088 judges of the Judiciary, 435 are women, 40%. Regarding administrative personnel, women occupy 46%.

During the inauguration of the Headquarters of AMJG, the President spoke about this data. She explained her association promotes the professionalization of women. “The association will continue to grow to defend [human] rights,” she said.

The Vice President of AMJG stated that the association was created with the goal of acknowledging the work of women judges and promoting respect for the judicial career.
