Asia Pacific Regional Conference - Adelaide 2026

International Association of Women Judges | Published on 6/4/2026

Hosted by the Australian Association of Women Judges on behalf of the International Association of Women Judges, the IAWJ 2026 Asia Pacific Regional Conference brought together judges, judicial officers, legal practitioners, academics, and justice-sector leaders from across the Asia-Pacific region in Adelaide, Australia. Delegates from all parts of Asia and the Pacific participated, including the Philippines, Korea, Indonesia, Afghanistan, and New Zealand, as well as the newly-formed Pacific Women Judicial Officers Association.

Over three days, participants engaged in dynamic discussions on some of the most pressing issues facing courts and communities today, including climate justice, artificial intelligence in judicial practice, gender apartheid in Afghanistan, judicial wellbeing, child exploitation, modern slavery, and intimate partner violence. Through expert-led sessions and multi-country exchanges, the conference fostered the sharing of innovative approaches to strengthening justice systems while advancing the leadership of women judges--and it reaffirmed the vital role of the women judges in promoting the rule of law, protecting human rights, and responding to emerging challenges across the region.
