IAWJ Africa Regional Conference: Nigeria Ebola Entry and Health Protocols for Travelers

Nephtaly Pierre Louis | Published on 5/26/2026
The Nigerian Association of Women Judges (NAWJ) wishes to inform all participants attending the upcoming IAWJ Africa Regional Conference in Nigeria of important public health measures currently being implemented by the Federal Government of Nigeria in relation to Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) prevention and surveillance protocols.

While Nigeria currently has no confirmed cases of Ebola Virus Disease, the Federal Government of Nigeria is taking proactive measures to strengthen national preparedness, surveillance, and coordinated response mechanisms to protect the health and wellbeing of citizens and visitors.

According to the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), and Port Health Services (PHS), enhanced monitoring measures are currently in effect for travelers arriving from or transiting through Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The following protocols are currently being implemented:

• Mandatory Health Declaration Form
All travelers arriving from or transiting through Uganda or the DRC are required to complete the Nigeria Health Declaration Form prior to arrival through the NCDC online health portal. Travelers should download or print the confirmation document and present it during airline check-in and upon arrival in Nigeria. Paper versions of the form may also be provided onboard aircraft or at the port of entry, where necessary.

• Medical Screening at Entry Points
Health screening measures, including temperature checks and symptom assessments, are being conducted at all international airports, seaports, and land borders in Nigeria.

• 21-Day Post-Arrival Monitoring
The NCDC will conduct a 21-day follow-up process for travelers arriving from the affected regions. Travelers are required to provide accurate local contact information and addresses as part of entry requirements.

• Health Advisory
Any traveler who develops symptoms such as fever, unexplained bleeding, or severe muscle pain within 21 days of arrival should immediately self-isolate and contact the NCDC hotline at 6232.

NAWJ encourages all conference participants to comply fully with these health and safety measures and to monitor official travel and public health advisories prior to departure.

We thank all attendees for their cooperation and commitment to ensuring a safe and successful regional conference.
