Govindi Deerasinghe is the current lead of Global Justice 50/50, an organization dedicated to transforming conversations and accountability measures surrounding gender equality in the legal field. At the International Association of Women Judges (IAWJ), she serves as a key collaborator for the IAWJ’s Women in Leadership and Law (WILIL) initiative. She brings invaluable experience in transitional justice, comparative law, legal reform, human rights, and the protection and dignity of women and children—particularly within the Global South. Professionally, she has led a range of educational and advocacy campaigns around the world. Academically, she holds a Master of Laws in Public International Law from Queen Mary University of London and a Bachelor of Laws from University College London.

In conversation with the IAWJ as part of the organization’s Justice Beyond the Bench podcast, Deerasinghe discussed the historical origins of Global Health 50/50, offered insights into Global Justice 50/50’s data analysis and preliminary findings ahead of its landmark report set for release in January 2026, and shared practical advice on how the report can support early-career lawyers.
