Nadia Kangaloo currently serves as a High Court Judge in the Judiciary of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. Outside of the courtroom, she holds several impactful positions, including President of the Caribbean Association of Women Judges and membership on both the Trinidad and Tobago Association of Women Judges board and the Judicial Education Institute of Trinidad and Tobago. She is a visionary in promoting dialogue and action around judicial wellbeing, having created the Wii Wellness initiative, which continues to build a peer-to-peer network of judges supporting one another through wellness events and training.

In conversation with the IAWJ as part of the organization’s Justice Beyond the Bench podcast, Kangaloo discussed her personal and career trajectories, the opportunities and challenges she has encountered in advocating for judicial wellbeing—including the additional burdens faced by women judges due to gendered stereotypes—and her aspirations for the future of judicial mental health.
