Judge Sougrati: Leading with Courage

Mina Sougrati is the current President of the International Association of Women Judges (IAWJ) and of the Union of Moroccan Women Judges, and she serves on the Administrative Tribunal of Casablanca. At the IAWJ, she made history as the organization’s first president from an Arabic-speaking country. Globally, she continues to distinguish herself as a trailblazer in advancing human rights, strengthening judicial empowerment, promoting reform on sextortion, and championing women’s leadership.

In conversation with the IAWJ as part of the organization’s Justice Beyond the Bench podcast, Sougrati discussed her journey to becoming a judge, the challenges—and solutions—women judges encounter, the founding of the Union of Moroccan Women Judges, and her vision for the future of the IAWJ.
