The Women in Leadership in Law (WILIL) Initiative Nigeria report presents the first comprehensive, gender-disaggregated dataset on judicial appointments across Nigeria for 2022–2024. Led by the International Association of Women Judges (IAWJ) in partnership with the National Association of Women Judges Nigeria (NAWJ-N), the report provides a clear evidence base for strengthening gender equality across all levels of the judiciary

By documenting women’s representation in superior courts, magistracies, customary courts, and Judicial Service Commissions nationwide, the report highlights both progress and persistent gaps in leadership and decision-making. More than a data exercise, it is a reform tool—supporting targeted, evidence-based policies that promote transparency, accountability, and inclusive access to justice.

WILIL Nigeria calls on institutions, policymakers, and partners to use this data to drive meaningful reform and advance gender parity in judicial leadership across the country.
