Mawada Talib
WILIL Initiative Coordinator
Mawada Talib is an undergraduate at Arizona State University studying Civics, Economic Thought and Leadership, and Criminal Justice. She combines academic insight with hands-on experience in gender-based violence prevention, legal research, and international nonprofit work. At ASU, she serves as Communications Director for the SCETAL Student Assembly and Social Media Director for the Muslim Student Association, helping lead humanitarian campaigns that raised over $15,000. She also supports survivor-centered policies through the Sexual Violence Prevention Leadership Program. Her experience includes tutoring refugee youth, assisting in university teaching, analyzing municipal court data, and mobilizing international aid. Mawada has also conducted research on the structural and legal dynamics of war crimes, examining how fear, media, and modern warfare contribute to the erosion of international humanitarian norms.
